At some point in your life, you’ve probably heard that your words have power. If you tell yourself something often enough, you will begin to believe it. This is where the power of positive affirmations comes from. You can use this power to invoke positive thinking into your life, inspire personal growth, and help manifest your dreams.

In my previous post, I talked about the impact of negative thought patterns. Negative thought patterns are addictive and can unconsciously wreak havoc on your life. Using daily positive affirmations is one of the simplest ways to counteract negative thinking and help you to build a positive and conscious mindset sustained by intentionality.

How to Use Affirmations
After you choose your favorite positive affirmations for self-love, carve out a few minutes of each day to recite them. Say each positive affirmation at least 10 times with vigor. Repeat this every day for at least 30 days. If you miss a day, it’s okay. Developing a new habit isn’t always easy. Be patient with yourself, and keep in mind that consistency is key.
An easy way to incorporate positive affirmations into your day is by adding them to your morning or nighttime routine.
When you first start incorporating positive affirmations into your day, it may feel silly, but the goal is to truly feel and believe what you’re saying. The more you say it, the easier it becomes to visualize what you’re saying and that’s where the magic begins. If you can see it, you’ll start to believe it, and all physical manifestations begin with belief. The things that we believe, whether conscious or unconscious, go on to shape how we live our lives.
How to Write Your Own Positive Affirmations
To write your own affirmations, start by sitting with yourself and thinking about the areas in your life where you’d like to see positive changes. Come up with statements that capture these positive statements. The idea is to speak as though you are presently living your life with those positive changes in effect.
I find that “I am…” statements are the easiest to formulate. If you want to see yourself living a more joyful life, your affirmation might sound like “I am joyous” or “I live a joyful life”.
Your positive affirmations can be simple three-word statements. It’s best to keep them simple and realistic, but ultimately it’s up to you to decide what that looks like.
The two most important things to keep in mind when creating your own affirmations are to keep it positive and keep it consistent. Only good things can come from positive consistency.
Benefits of Positive Affirmations
A major benefit of incorporating positive affirmations into your life is raising your overall emotional state to a more positive one. Building a habit of speaking positivity into your life will replace at least some of the negative thoughts that find their way into your mind every day. Increasing positivity in your life can help you feel more confident and less anxious.
Seeing the results of positive affirmations can be a powerful moment for you. You will have tangible proof that you indeed have the power to shape and change your life with nothing less than your mind. This alone will help increase your self-esteem and be a source of motivation when you need it.
